How is mitigation accomplished? There are two ways by which mitigation can be accomplished. The traditional method is for landowners to undertake the entire process on their own which can be extremely expensive, time-consuming and ineffective combined with a variety of long-term commitments and requirements. In-depth proposals involving construction, establishment and management of the mitigation area until success is proven are required. An alternative is mitigation banking.
